Why Clarity exists

Every SEO tool we tried before building Clarity either (a) hid the most useful checks behind $99+/month paywalls, (b) surfaced a wall of vague errors with no actionable next step, or (c) required a full audit trail before you could see a single score. Small teams don't need a twelve-dashboard platform — they need to know which three things to fix this afternoon.

Clarity's design rule is simple: if a check matters for rankings, it should run instantly and tell you exactly what to fix. The free tier covers 14 tools (audit, speed, report card, competitor comparison, meta analysis, backlinks, keyword density, readability, technology detection, and more) with no signup required. Pro adds monitoring, history, Google Analytics + Search Console integration, and bulk scanning for $29/month.

Who builds Clarity

Clarity is built and maintained by Mobilebarn Web Services, a small digital studio that also ships Byline (email signatures) and Hue (design tools). Day-to-day product direction and content come from Megan Cross — reach out any time on X / Twitter.

We run Clarity as an independent product — no VC, no growth-at-all-costs mandate. The free tier stays free because the tools cost us almost nothing to run at scale, and because most users who eventually need monitoring upgrade to Pro without being nagged.

How we keep audits honest

• No affiliate kickbacks. We don't earn a cut when you pick a particular CMS, host, or CDN.
• No fake scores. Our scoring rubric is published and stable — it's not tuned to upsell Pro.
• No dark patterns. Free tools don't degrade over time. You can use them anonymously forever.
• Guides are written in-house. Every piece in the SEO guides library is written or reviewed by someone who has actually shipped the fix.
